Dr. Jan Busch: Basis of Germany's success is the political compromise

March 17, 2021

On February 12, 2021 IR club organized an informative interactive webinar with Dr. Jan Busch* - Assessor Juris, Chairman of the NGO "Forum for Political Consulting" based in Berlin, Germany. All participants were honored to meet him and were amazed by his expert knowledge and experience.

He has clearly explained the structure of the political system in Germany and described the process of political decision making on state and federal levels. Dr. Busch also pointed out the importance of political compromise between branches of government and especially within the multiparty parliament. He said that the basis of the country's success is the decision makers' ability to find common grounds on different matters and government's accountability and transparency.

During a Q&A section, Dr. Busch has given insightful answers to all of the questions. His remarks on perception of Kyrgyzstan in Germany were very interesting, he mentioned that he always lobbies for our country!

Also, as a member and former Chief of staff of the Secretary General of the Social democratic Party, he shared party values and ideological core. There were also questions on Bavarian exclusiveness and right wing parties.

He advised students to go beyond the curricula and explore additional knowledge and experience; learn languages, especially English; engage in civil society and political process; improve communication skills and be respectful.

The head of International Relations Department Associate Professor Mavliuda Guseinova expressed her deepest gratitude and invited Dr. Busch to visit our university.

We really appreciate the IR club team - our host Aidai Kasymova and the President of the club Kaukhar Duishekeeva for initiating this wonderful event. This webinar is a part of Ala-Too SDG MUN Academy sessions. SDG Model UN virtual conference will be held on March 19-20, 2021.
