April 22, 2024
On April 11, 2024, undergraduate students of International Relations Department visited the Delegation of the European Union to Kyrgyzstan and met with Mr. Hans Farnhammer, the Head of Cooperation section. This educational visit was orchestrated by Senior lecturer Taalaigul Usonova as part of the curriculum for the “International Organizations and Kyrgyzstan in International Organizations” course.
During the visit, Mr. Farnhammer provided valuable insights into the primary sectors of development cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union: Rule of Law, Education, Integrated Rural Development, Digitalization, and fostering a Green and Climate-resilient economy. In an interactive question-and-answer session, students delved into topics such as development project outcomes, the opportunities presented by GSP+, and support for climate adaptation initiatives.
In the concluding part of the visit, students seized the opportunity to glean wisdom from Mr. Farnhammer regarding his extensive experience in international development. They sought recommendations on key skills necessary for advancing their careers, with a focus on the importance of language proficiency and refining their analytical and critical reading and writing abilities.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Hans Farnhammer for sharing his expertise and contributing to the development of the next generation of international cooperation professionals. Additionally, we express sincere gratitude to Nuska Osmonova, Secretary to the Political, Press, and Information Section, whose efforts were pivotal in facilitating this study visit.
