Taalaigul Usonova, jointly with the International Affairs Office of the university, organized a meeting for junior and senior students of the International Relations Department with Marilyn Josefson, Ambassador of the European Union to Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the Regionalism in World Politics and European Union Course aligning with the departmental platform of Diplomatic Events on December 5, 2023 at AIU.

This Diplomatic event was a valuable opportunity for our students to gain insights into the E.U.'s role in Kyrgyzstan. The Ambassador shared valuable knowledge about the E.U.'s policies, initiatives, and cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, fostering a deeper understanding of the EU-Kyrgyzstan relationship.

The students actively participated in the discussion, asking thought-provoking questions and exchanging ideas on various topics, including human rights, the role of a pluralistic environment in the country's sustainable development, and regional cooperation. “Meeting with the Ambassador of the EU to Kyrgyzstan Marilyn Josephson was enlightening. The discourse delved into bilateral relations, emphasizing shared values and development prospects, such as water resource management, equality, etc.  I was left impressed by Her Excellency's answer to my question about youth's impact on civic engagement - it made me rethink my approach and realize that if we want to make changes, political absenteeism isn't an option and that 'bottom-up' actions matter.  Moreover, I genuinely appreciate the fact that her answers were concrete and relevant.”- shared Altynai Toktosunova.

“It was an inspirational meeting with the Ambassador of the EU, Marilyn Josephson, particularly the portion about training, development, and education. I was astonished by her response to my question about the trade between the EU and Kyrgyzstan. Her answer gave me a view in the perspective I've never had before. I was astounded by Marilyn Josephson's broad and precise examples. Generally, the meeting was very insightful for me and helpful for my character development. I appreciate that I had a chance to attend the meeting”, - noted Abai Kambarov.
